متن کاملEvolution of blood pressure in children with congenital and acquired solitary functioning kidney
BACKGROUND It is not yet clear if blood pressure and renal function changes evolve differently in children with a congenital or acquired solitary functioning kidney. This study aims to assess if there are any differences between these two types of solitary kidney patients. METHODS Current research is a retrospective study assessing the evolution of glomerular filtration rate, proteinuria, and...
متن کاملMechanisms of post-obstructive diuresis in the solitary hydronephrotic kidney of the rat.
1. In order to clarify further the phenomenon of post-obstructive diuresis, clearance and micropuncture experiments were done before and after relief of partial ureteral obstruction in rats with a solitary hydronephrotic kidney. 2. Glomerular filtration rate, urine flow and sodium excretion increased markedly, whereas surface nephron glomerular filtration rate increased only slightly and intrat...
متن کاملFDG-PET/CT and CT findings of a benign solitary fibrous tumor of the kidney: correlation with pathology
Herein, we report the F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) findings of a benign solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) of the kidney. The patient was a 63-year-old woman with a mass in the right kidney (10×9.7 cm), incidentally found on CT images. The CT scan showed a lobulated tumor arising from the hilum of the right kidney. متن کاملRisk factors for renal injury in children with a solitary functioning kidney.
OBJECTIVE The hyperfiltration hypothesis implies that children with a solitary functioning kidney are at risk to develop hypertension, proteinuria, and chronic kidney disease. We sought to determine the presenting age of renal injury and identify risk factors for children with a solitary functioning kidney. METHODS We evaluated 407 patients for signs of renal injury, defined as hypertension, ...
